A Year Ago, Homes Here Sat For Months. Not Anymore.

Across the territory, over the twelve weeks ending September 20, 2026, the median days on market fell to 98 days, down from 116 days a year earlier, and every market moved the same direction.

If you've owned your place for a few years and you're wondering whether now is a bad time to test the market because homes are sitting forever, the answer this period is no. Homes are actually moving faster than they were a year ago, across the board.

A year ago, the median days on market territory-wide was 116 days. This period, it fell to 98 days. That is not a small shift, and it is not a fluke in one pocket of the map. It shows up in every single market the desk tracked.

MLS sold data · Twelve weeks ending September 20, 2026

In Calabash, the median days on market fell to 115 days, down from 134 days a year earlier. That is a market that used to feel sluggish and no longer does.

In North Myrtle Beach, the median days on market fell to 99 days, down from 118 days a year earlier. Buyers there are simply moving faster than they were.

In Little River, the median days on market fell to 100 days, down from 116 days a year earlier.

In Longs, the median days on market fell to 104 days, down from 119 days a year earlier.

In Myrtle Beach, the median days on market fell to 83 days, down from 99 days a year earlier, the fastest-moving market in the territory this period.

What makes this worth paying attention to is that it is unanimous. Five markets, five different price points, five different personalities, and every one of them sped up. That is rarer than it sounds. Usually when you pull numbers across a territory this size, something is moving the wrong way. Not this time.

It would be easy to assume that means prices are surging too, but that is not what the data shows. The median sold price across the territory this period was $350,000, and the movement in that number year over year did not hold up statistically, so it is not part of this story. What changed is speed, not price. A house selling faster does not automatically mean it is selling for more.

In real life, that means the waiting period before an offer has shortened almost everywhere. It does not mean a bidding war on your porch. It means a buyer is more likely to make a decision instead of circling for months. For a seller who has been putting off listing because they pictured their home languishing through a long season of showings, that fear has less basis in the numbers than it did a year ago.

It matters most for two kinds of people. If you have been sitting on a listing decision because you assumed a slow market, this period says otherwise, at least on the speed question. And if you are further along, already comparing offers, faster median days on market is one more sign that serious buyers are moving with more urgency to act than they were bidding and waiting on price.

There is a spread worth knowing about too. Median days to pending runs 64.5 days in North Myrtle Beach. In Myrtle Beach, that same measure runs 54 days. Same territory, same twelve weeks, two different paces. If you are picturing your own timeline, which of those two markets you're closer to matters more than the territory average.

What would change this read next period is simple: watch whether the median days on market keeps falling or whether this period was a one-time catch-up after a slower stretch. One more period of the same direction, in the same markets, would turn this from a notable shift into a real trend.

If you want to know what your specific situation looks like against these numbers, ask for a home value estimate. It will tell you where your property sits against this exact backdrop, not a general one.
